Is Swyvl really free?
Yes. The Free plan includes 5 GB storage, 3 sites, and 5 active share links — enough to try everything. No credit card, no trial period. Upgrade when you need more storage, sites, or custom branding.
What happens to my data on the Free plan?
Your data is safe as long as your account is active. If there's no login and no share link views for 12 months, we'll send you a reminder before archiving your account. You can always reactivate by logging in.
How does storage billing work?
Each paid plan includes a storage allowance. If you go over, we charge $0.05 per GB per month. You can disable overage in settings to hard-cap your storage. The Free plan has a hard cap at 5 GB — no overage charges.
What's the largest file I can upload?
Up to 100 GB per file. Large uploads use multipart transfer with automatic retry and resume from where they left off if your connection drops. Very large files — drone orthomosaics, dense point clouds, long 4K video — are processed on dedicated high-capacity infrastructure.
How much work is it to migrate my existing archive?
Less than you'd think. Everything happens in the browser — drag and drop files (up to 100 GB each) straight from Dropbox exports, hard drives, or network storage, and organise them by site as you go. Uploads resume automatically if your connection drops. Moving a large back-catalogue? Get in touch and we'll help you plan the migration.
Can I switch plans or cancel anytime?
Yes. Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel from your settings page at any time. No contracts, no lock-in. If you cancel a paid plan, you move back to the Free plan — your data stays, but you'll be subject to Free plan limits.
What happens to my live share links if I cancel or downgrade?
Nothing is deleted. Cancelling moves you to the Free plan with your data intact, but Free plan limits apply — including a maximum of 5 active share links. If you have more than that, you'll need to choose which links stay active. Reactivate a paid plan at any time to lift the limits again.
What's included on the Free plan?
All 14 viewer types, Google SSO, activity log, and unlimited client viewers. AI edits — plain-English file editing for things like reprojection, transcoding, and cropping — are reserved for paid plans. The other main differences are storage, number of sites, share link limits, and custom branding (paid plans can replace the default Swyvl branding with your own logo and colours).
Where is my data stored?
You choose your storage region at signup: Australia, US East, US West, United Kingdom, Europe, Canada, Japan, or Singapore. Files never leave your selected region.
How secure is my data?
Your files live in durable, S3-compatible object storage in the region you choose at signup — on every plan, including Free. Data is encrypted in transit, files are only accessible through your account or the share links you create, and a full activity and audit log is included on all plans so you can see exactly who accessed what, and when.
How does the annual discount work?
Pay annually and save 15%. Solo: $42/mo ($504/yr), Team: $169/mo ($2,028/yr). Extra Team seats are also discounted on annual: $12.75/seat instead of $15. Switch between monthly and annual from your settings.
Do clients pay to view my deliveries?
No. Client viewers are always unlimited and always free — on every plan including Free. You only pay for editor seats.
